Hi folks,
This is my first post to the B-C list. I have the opportunity to
acquire a Sunbeam Alpine basket-case for next to nothing. Now, I
have no experience with Sunbeams, or any British car for that
matter, but I'd hate to see this one go to the junk yard or worse,
the crusher. Apparently a lady's husband died while in the midst
of a "restoration project". The car is apart, and there are several
sets of mechanicals to go with it. I have not seen the car or the
pieces but am intrigued by the car.
I am familiar with the Sunbeam Tiger, so I am assuming that it is
similar to the Alpine, albeit with a Ford V-8 stuffed under the
hood.
Can anyone tell me what I might be getting into? Are parts available,
aftermarket suppliers, etc.? Restorating and rebuilding cars is not
foreign to me, ( or to most car junkies), as I have rebuilt/restored
a Datsun 1600, a VW Scirocco race car, several Corvairs, and am
helping a fellow LBC nut with his '73 Midget and two MGB's.
Have tools and $, can spend! :-)
