Subject of car colors:
My first car was a white TR4. Got my first ticket in that car. I was
in the middle of a large pack of cars going the same speed (72 in a 65
sone) as everyone else. CHP (California Highway Patrol) snaked
through the traffic and pulled _me_ over... when I asked "Why me"?,
he pulled off his dark sun glasses, stared at me and said "You'r the
one in the white sports car". You could almost see the light turn on
above my head... City cops used to do U-turns and follow me all the
time, they knew a kid in a white sports car would do something illegal
sooner or later... Note that I didn't drive crasy, and didn't really
speed (I was too afraid too... police escort and all...). The TR4 got
totaled by a 56 Buick that ran a red light - only put a dent in his
door :o(... The TR was replaced by a dark green Vega wagon (I was a
broke college student; what can I say). I consistently drove it 10-15
MPH above the limit, and never got a ticket... Got the Elan, which
the PO had painted a light metalic grayish-blue - the color blended in
with the highway and the smog/haze, drove it 10-20 MPH over limit...
Only ticket was for "tailgating" (guy in a Datsun pickup changed lanes
(didn't see me) and cut me off, I slammed on my brakes, and CHP gave
_me_ a ticket for following too close. Oh yea, he said something
about "Just because you'r in a sports car, doesn't mean you can
tailgate"... Am I seeing a pattern here????

It seems to me that the color of your car can go a long ways toward
attracting peoples' attention. That's why the Elan is now sporting a
nice RED paint job, I'm willing to attract the attention of the law
officers, as long as it also is seen by the Buick and pickup truck
drivers.

Subject of torque wrench:
_I_ hold my hand open on the extension bar near the top, by the
wrench. The extension nestles in the "V" formed by my thumb and
fingers, my open palm exerts the lateral force "away" from me, the
other hand pulls the wrench "toward" me. The result is rotational
torque applied to the bolt, and I am certin that I can exert no
significant torque to the extension in either direction that can
affect the torque reading.

Subject of including name and & Email address:
How about also including where you are located. Some addresses are
easy to figure out, some are not (mine for instance). And people on
this list are from all over the world, let alone the country...
