It is well documented that sidedraught carbs suffer from what is known
of (in the uk) as fuel standoff. This is a common reason for K&N filters
to shrink etc. The normal solution is to use trumpets (ram pipes) to
contain the standoff and to vibrationally isolate the carbs using rubber
mountins or little spring (thackerys) washers.
