I don't know what you're already done, I just started reading this thread.
Except for the "occasionally", this is the classic symptom of
not getting enough throughput of energy to make it go. In my case it was
a blocked air passage, so it can be a bad air filter or also clogged
kinked fuel line, or, as someone else said, a vacuum leak. If it's load
but not rpm dependent, it's probably not ignition.
