The January '94 issue of Road & Track came today, and it has several
Britcar items of interest.

Ian Norris gives the MG RV8 a First Drive. Comments are very positive,
with the only complaints being the wheels & tyres, rear drum brakes, no
ABS, and high price. He even gives qualified praise to the live rear
axle. He closes with: "No MGs have come to the U.S. since 1979, and
the RV8 won't be coming either--a shame because it's a car that America,
brought up on light European sports cars and torque-laden V-8s, could
love." I found it interesting that in all the things I have read about
the RV8, Norris was the only one to make that point.

Another fine article is the Salon, which features Jaguar's ill-fated
XJ13.

A third article, by Stirling Moss, is about Innes Ireland, who died in
October.

In January 1952, Sydney Allard becomes the only person to ever win the
Monte Carlo Rallye in a car bearing his own name.

This ad appeared in R&T 30 years ago:
"1950 Healey Silverstone, E-type, very rare car. Made by Donald Healey
before joining Austin. Original throughout. Complete history since
new. Engine, body perfect. $2000 ..." Address given is Canada, so one
may assume that's Cdn$2000!
