I fill the burnt pan with a 1/4" or so of water, then boil it on the stove.
Usually dissolves the gunk nicely and lets you wipe it off with, at most,
a plastic scrubbing pad.

Are we far enough from the original subject now that I can submit a recipe
for brownies or something?  :-)
