Roland, I can tell you did not look closely at that half finished MGB with
the V8 at British Sports Cars Sales and Service. The body is a pre-74.
The car had parts of its bulkhead (firewall) bashed back to make room for the
V8. Its been under conersion for at least 3-1/2 years at that shope.
It was there when I dropped my TR tub off to have body work done, and
it was still there 2-1/2 years later when I got my TR3 tub back and took
it to another shop that actually did the work. Steve Chase, owner of the shop
spent maybe 2 hours on my car during that time. Since I do not have a
garage and was out of work or under employed (poor) for most of that time,
it ended up being a big favor.

Getting back to the MGB & V8s. It is my understanding that pre 74 MGBs
require parts of the bulkhead to be moved back (hense the one at Steve's
shoppe looking like it was attacked by a sludge hammer) in order to fit the V8.
The bulkhead was modified in 74 & the Rover V8 is supposed to drop into
74 & later cars without any body modifications.
