Carmel can be a bit pricey so you may want to head inland a bit

It's also a good idea to take along a spare fan belt (or set if you have
more than one).  I do this on every trip no matter what kind of a car
I'm driving.  Being stuck in the middle of nowhere without a generator
or water pump can be a monumental pain.  And, of course, a good light,
independent of your car battery.

It's a pleasant trip, especially in a fun car but it is looong.
