My '79 Lotus 'eclat came stock with a Luminition infra-red ignition. It comes
with a power module that is mounted on the wheel-well hump inside the engine
bay on the right hand side with suitable clearance for the wiring to the
distributor. There are no points that pit, so you don't even have to mess with
the insides of the distributor while tuning. If something goes haywire with
the unit - of course, you may want to take the distributor out to see if all
looks ok inside - but, I'm told that at most you may only need to mount a new
power module.
I am quite satisfied, especially after the one time when one of my buddies that
used to own an 'eclat was filing his points over the kitchen sink and ...you
guessed it ...down the sink they went!
I do carry a spare unit, among other items like a rear wheel bearing, etc...
