Thank you Jim.  I knew there was another Spitifire owner out there that
I could count on to defend the marque.

I read that same statement about "better " and cringed as well.  Watch
out George !!
 
 Each of these cars has its attibutes, and I doubt one can be shown
superior in all situations.  I would have responded earlier but all this
lovely banter about racing Spitfires has been inspiring me to only add
after I have the time to let all of you know that there are plenty of
winning Spitfires in racing.  In both road racing and autocrossing. 
I'll write what I've heard just as soon as I read a few more articles
from the latest wave of car mags.
