Good advice, Don. And thanks for answering a few unasked questions I had. ;-)
What I don't understand is why someone would look at the slush series as an
indiciation of what needed to be done for the upcoming regular season. Those
who attend the slush and the reasons for doing so (competition or fun or both)
is usually quite different from who/why/in what class people participate in the
much longer regular season.
And IF run group balance is the only consideration here then where the former
Street Tire participants are going to move to would be the sole consideration
of whether the change is a good one or not.
165 of the 241 regular season entries in STi were people running five or more
events in class. 34 of those would be spread over nine new stock classes. 44
would move to SM. 31 would move to Street Touring classes.
As for the walk-ins, they tend to go where registration directs them when they
ask "what class/run group am I am?" That could just as easily be any run group
that is undersubscribed at the time if they don't care about season points.
I won't be driving seven hours round trip to attend the next meeting although
if we were talking about OSP I might.
