Sorry, I should have said YMMV - obviously different states have different
laws...  If you're in California, though, you drive at your own risk ;)

I think the proper use of the word "abandoned" applies here - I'm pretty
sure that if you zip around a parking lot - even here where they don't
really care - with cars and people around, that you are liable to be carted
off to jail.  I won't practice in my lot unless there are zero cars, period.
Also, I take off the race muffler and put the stock goodies back on, so I
don't offend the neighbors.

Also, I don't go out with a load of cones and set up a course - I bring two
or three, usually - to practice something specific.  Apex and turn-in,
lane-change, short slaloms, or precision braking.  I video tape everything
from a couple angles, and it takes me about an hour.  I go home and analyze
my footage, and try to figure out how to improve.

Again - your mileage may vary - and you must be responsible.  Don't do
anything to impugn the name of the SCCA, and our sport - and be safe.
