I too have had trouble enlisting more ladies to the sport.  I even go to
great lengths to encourage women who are at the events.  They often have
there significant others trying to get them involved as well...

Here are my thoughts... FWIW

To attract more women you need a few simple rules...

First,
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES may there SO ride with, drive for or offer advise
to the female participant...

Second,
Everyone, including timing and scoring AND course workers must be
blindfolded so that the female participant will not be embarrassed by
her performance.

Third,
For the first two years, no times should be posted for public eyes or
ears..  The female participant is to be told things like..  "She was a
little faster on this run..." etc.

Fourth,
Race car manufacturers must come up with some kind of finger nail
protective devise.  Otherwise the cost of a new manicure makes
autocrossing too expensive...
