I don't think there's much of a problem here. The Import scene has a very
serious car-show subculture, and these guys don't race - it gets their cars
dirty.
I know a guy who does shows, competitively. I keep my car fairly clean -
not Chris Lindberg or Brian Hood clean, but clean and presentable. This guy
is _horrified_ by the state of my car. :)
Anybody whose weekend kit include a hundred square feet of mirrors isn't an
SM target audience member. They may appreciate what we do, and they may
even try it, but they won't do it in their show cars.
If one _does_ show up at a Region, I'd suggest doing what you do with any
oddball - figure out what class best matches him (in this case, SM)
introduce him to the competitors, point out the problematic modifications,
and let the competitors figure it out. In any Region I've encountered,
nobody will have any problems with it.
SM can afford to be a little lax in Regional competition. As long as the
players realize that rules enforcement is a little stricter at the higher
levels, no harm, no foul.
