Oh, THAT one isn't a problem.  Whack the original with a rubber mallet a few 
times (not illegal).  Now it's defective.  Replace.

I actually had a problem with a '94 ESP Camaro - the original cat blew out, 
and the dealer initially refused to replace it under the EPA warranty, 
because the car still (barely) passed smog.
