I wouldn't buy the argument that a shift light
is a 'light' in the wording of 13.2.A., (clearly a
tortured interpretation) but I might buy it
as an 'indicator'.

Now we are back to Mark's question about "hav(ing)
no effect on performace".

Not so sure about that part. . . . .

No - adding a tach is specifically allowed, as long as
one accepts that it is a 'guage'. (13.2.A, page 86)

And while 13.2.A makes no allowance for a rev limiter
(mho), there is clearly an allowance for "indicators" and
"lights".

Might one successfully make the argument that a shift light
is an "indicator"?

I'm in agreement that a tach is a gauge, and that a light or indicator is
allowed, and that a limiter is not.
