What about a GT6 in D modified?

I have owned Triumphs for years, and have always had fond feelings to the
GT6 that I owned years ago, even though it never ran for more than 2 weeks
before another major repair......I got it used.

I love the short wheelbase, small turning circle, and feeling of a "real
sportscar"

I agree the engine would be the weakness, thus would need a higher power
engine, twin cam, or perhaps rotary for less enpensive, but keep in D mod.

I see the tranny as a weakness, and would need a special racing setup that
is durable, and possibly having multispeeds and is there a quick change
rear that would be possible?

How light could the chassis be cut down to? Class minimum is 1000, is 12
or 1300 reasonable if it is trully cut down? Would a fiber front-end
significantly cut weight?

Anyone out there that has thought about this, and knows the car well enough
to discuss?

A while back there was discussion of if the D mod. class had reached it
potential.

How about this???? Old Honda formula one engine when they were turbo and
only 1500 cc?
Car cut to 1000 pounds, adjustable and multiple gearing. NOt a low budget
descripition, but definitely a step above the present cars??????

What do you think?? Wouldn't real money and engineering take it far above
the present level and still fully remain in the present rules?

Who wants to spend the money to outrun Chris??????

Larry...dreamer.....solo vee and real vee driver budget
