        Before going for the elaborate solutions, I would read your spark 
plugs, or
use a color tune to insure the mixture is correct. Fumes get pretty bad if the
mixture is rich. Your nose is very sensitive to the odor, and you may find
that a mixture tweak is all you need. If your plugs are a sooty black, then
you need to back off until they are a nice grey-brown. Your fuel economy will
be better, and you will pick up a bit of power to boot.
        I think you will find that the fume problem abates substantially with a
correct mixture, to the point where you might even feel that no further action
is required.
