Every engine builder I have talked to always says conventional oil. I prefer
Castrol GTX (or whatever an oil company gives me). Fire the engine and hold
it steady at 2000 rpm's for 20 minutes.
Now, resist the urge to blip the throttle, especially if you fired it up
without a muffler. A minute after firing up or as temp starts to come up add
1/2 a bottle of GM's EOS (ZDDP) weather you used assembly lube or not.
Unless I am running an off road racing oil that has sufficient ZDDP, I
always add 1/2 a bottle of EOS with every oil change.

Oh yeah, do not exceed 10,000 RPMs. LOL

I'm about ready to fire up my TR6's engine and would like to know what oil
should I use during that first start up. Also any recomenadations on rpms
not to exceed during first few hours. By the way the engine is on the
chassis (body off)....not like I'm gonna be driving around...just starting
it up.

Thanks,
