When I replaced my rear trailing arm bushings a couple of months ago on my
stock 74 TR6 I noticed one of the shock links was slightly bent. I
reassembled with the bent part and ordered replacement links which I now
have. I can't seem to get the top of the link to disengage from the arm on
the shock. I've sprayed it liberally with Kroil which freed the top nut. I
had no problem with the lower nuts having just had them off and replaced
them with the non-rusted variety. I've tried a hammer but don't want to hit
it too hard in fear of bending the shock arm (if that's what it's called).
I've tried prying with a screwdriver in between the shock arm and the round
head on the link but it feels like I'm pulling the head out of the link
instead of the bolt and sleeve out of the arm.

Can I remove the arm of the shock with the link attached so I can work on it
while off the car and make sure I don't bend it?

Sorry if I'm not describing this right and I hope someone understands what
I'm trying to describe. The repair manual says in the instruction for
removing the rear damper at step 6 that I can now "release the link from the
damper". If only it would. This was the first place in the Rear Suspension
area of the manual I found instructions on removing the link. I did not do
the steps to remove the damper as am hoping to avoid this.
