I get my knowledge, such as it is, from the great Tech people at Tire
Rack. They have an 888 number and seem to help folks without necessity of
purchase. You might give them a call.
I believe inflation pressures are influenced by a host of things: fore/aft
balance of the car; fore/aft suspension design; tire size(s); tire
profile(s). I don't believe there's a hard and fast rule other than "it
depends."
Plus, of course, a lot depends on what sort of handling you're looking
for. Canyon running in the wet would obviously be different from a parking-lot
autocross.
