I had so much gas in the sump of my 71 that it shot out of the dipstick hole
when I took out the stick. My problem was the front carb needle valve. It
was seeping gas into the sump when the Six was parked. Not sure of the damage
incurred. Valves and guides are now in need of rebuild but that could be STD
45,000 mile maintenance. I will probably do that when it breaks big time or
smokes too much. It only smokes now at start up. I do not believe any damage
was
done to the bottom end even though I drove it for a while. It's a Bummer
when you lose that oil pressure, Huh! Hey you have a nice clean engine
internals
now!
