In my opinion, Webers are for all-out racing applications, Strombergs
are good for the street. Webers have tons of variables that can be
changed to make them work for your purpose. This makes it complicated
and expensive to tune them right. Plus it seems to be a bit of a
"black art". There are guys out there who are gurus, while others
can't get them to run right at all!

Strombergs (or SUs) are a good compromise, and are much easier to make
work right for street applications. And they flow well. You can get
around 150hp with dual Stroms, with head work, cam, roller rockers,
header, etc set up for the street. For all out race, I believe the
factory got 170hp out of the dual stroms (with a very aggressive cam
and compression). You can get about 170hp with triple stroms on a
street setup. And all this while still getting decent gas mileage
(around 20-25mpg).

But remember, it's not worth upgrading your carbs without doing head
work, cam, etc first. More gas won't get you much without better
breathing. And you can get good power out of the stock dual
Strombergs. Spend your money on head and cam first, then carbs.

But I must agree with Dr. Bob, there's nothing that matches the looks
of triple Webers!
