Thanks for all the great suggestions. I did exactly what you suggested and
re-installed the points and condensor. Well the engine ran great! Som now
I am faced with troubleshooting the Petronix ignition. I did make sure to
bypass the ballast resistor when I installed the unit, so now I want to try
and connect a wire directly from the battery to the module itself.
I also need to experiment and find out where to set the timing, I'm a little
confused about why the recommended setting is 4 deg. ATDC, and alot of folks
are running at 10-12 deg. BTDC.
I will let you know what I find.

Jim---Put a timing light on each plug wire in turn, and rev the engine
till it 'stumbles'.
If the timing light "misfires" from ANY of the plug wires, you can at
least eliminate anything at the valves and carbs. A bad spark plug or
wire will also show up with this test. I'd be more inclined to suspect
the Pertronic ignition, as you haven't run the engine since installing
it. You might want to put the points back in long enough to find out.
