Well, I tried to start my freshly rebuilt engine yesterday and came up a
little short. Here is the saga.
The engine is rebuilt. After hooking everything up and cranking the engine
(plugs out) until I had oil pressure I replaced the plugs to find an engine
that would not start. I checked to verify that I had fuel going to carbs by
pulling fuel line and cranking engine. We had fuel to carobs next I verified
I had spark by pulling and 6 and placing next to engine and cranked, had
spark. Next I verified I had not installed the distributor 180 out. I
verified that no 1 cylinder was on compression stroke and at TDC and verified
that my rotor arm was on the number one cylinder wire. were am I going
wrong? The carbs were rebuilt last year and came off of a running engine. it
seems as if the cylinders are not getting fuel. I pulled plugs after cranking
for some time and they were not wet. I also installed a Crane xr700 ignition
system and don't believe it to be the problem. I confirmed I had spark twice.
Can anyone help. I also had the fuel tank cleaned and sealed prior to
restarting.
My last thought, could the floats be stuck not allowing fuel to cylinders?
