Hi Dick, thanks for the quick reply. I was interested althought the US
to AUS$ is so bad at the moment the kit for carbs is a bit out of reach.

I'm rather attached to the PI setup and was thinking what the overall
gain would be with a supercharged carb setup considering the injected
9.5:1 stock PI is about 132HP.

I was indeed thinking about this for the saloon. I ahven't stopped
thinking yet, however.

Cheers

Joe---It would be quite a test for anyone sort out all that's required
to add a supercharger to a stock PI setup. I don't think it could be
done properly without extensive R&D, including an engine management
system such as found on new cars that have both the PI and SC. One of
the problems, as you already surmised, is coming up with the proper size
of injectors and pressures required to keep the engine happy in both
'normal' and 'boost' modes. I don't think stock Lucas injectors are up
to the task, as few injected engines designed for normally aspirated
conditions would be. Generally they're too small.
Surprisingly, CD carburetors such as the SU and even Triumph's version
with the Zenith Strombergs can be modified to handle the extra fuel
requirement quite easily with the right needle choice. (An installed 02
sensor + air/fuel monitor eases this task)

I don't know about the packaging of an SC with a PI system. With lots of
underhood room available in the six, I suppose this, too, could be
worked out.

Joe! Could it be that you are considering this for your Saloon?? I hope
so...
