Okay, we're buying some 1 5/8 diameter .134 wall seamless tubing for our rollcage. The extra wall thickness is to make sure the wall thickness does not go below spec when making a bend on the outsid

Phil; All you need is seamless mild steel, but why go with 1 5/8 dia. 1 3/4 can't be that much more and if you ever get fast enough or run in F class you will need 1 3/4. I know, I'm looking at major

I don't see anything in the rule book that says you need 1 3/4-inch tubeing for a roll cage, unless your running a roll bar. Some vehicles under 175 MPH can use a 1 1/2-inch cage, but like you said

Holey Smokes! Did the rule book change? I don't have the 2000 one but the '99 one under III-2.2 says 1 5/8 minimum wall 0.120. Says for classes G H I J K can use 1 1/2 x 0.095 wall. Classes whhich ex

You are safe with the '99 rules on diameter and thickness ... the only 2000 changes say; III-2 "All closed cars over 175 MPH and non-metallic bodied cars entered in classes with records or minimums

Hi all; Note that there is a difference in the definitions of "roll bar" and "roll cage" in the rule book. "Roll bars" (figure 1) must be 1-3/4 dia. .120 wall. If you run classes G,H,I,J & K and the

See my posting. I don't know why I get harassed for having 1 5/8 tube. Fred Danzenfelzer had to write it in my log book that the cage was OK under 175. I don't have any idea why its being looked upon

Dan Warner; Is that a cage or roll bar in my roadster? Will my Vega require a cage in 2000? Now it has pretty much Fig 1 on page 22 of the 99 rule book Rich Fox

List; I now know what is wrong with my cage. Although the cage is 1 5/8 the double tube frame is 1 1/2. Since the cage is attached to the frame, it is considered 1 1/2 and limited to 175 mph. I am as
