Hi all My TR6 seems to be running lean based on the white deposits I'm seeing on the plugs. Also, it tends to stall when I crack the throttle momentarily and back off. The power seems to be there but

Check for leaks in all vacuum lines--to distributor, to brake servo, from valve cover, from charcoal cannister. Also check carb mounting to manifold and from manifold to head. An air leak in any of t

Thanks Kevin! Here are some additional comments and questions.... I bet you're right. Maybe it's sucking air through the brake-servo pipe - I remember fighting with that when I took off the valve-cov

3 Things come to mind. Worn throttle shaft bushings $$, Incorrect needle mixture adjustment, Incorrect adjustment of by-pass valve or bad by-pass diaphragm. I'd bet on a combination of all 3. Do ensu

Amy, I Pretty much any time my TR runs poorly (which is pretty much all the time--well, when it's running...) I look for leaking air. I'm continually amazed at all the leaks I find, long after I was

One more thing it could be is an incorrect float level. Actually, the needle adjustments are for "fine" tuning. If it's really running way lean, the floats may need to be re-set, assuming there isn't

Dunno. However, if it's just an idle lean (i.e. the standard air leaks around the throttle shafts), you may be able to fix it with the idle air bleed screws, near the temp. compensators. I strongly

First off, thanks to Mr.'s Riggs, Meboe, Paisley, and Jesup for helping me out. Much appreciated! Here are some more thoughts and questions. Hmm. Well mine's a '71, build date Oct. 70. After going ba

Amy, Could be... The only way I can think to check is to shine a very bright light into the dashpots and see if you can see the allen-head adjustment screw. Some disassembly might make it easier to s

I'm so sorry! I saw the followup message you mention, but I didn't recognize its context. My Microsoft mailer doesn't give me any information about the original senders of mail to the TR list, so un

Check the tags on the carbs. For '70, C3292LH/RH are non-adjustable, C3365LH/RH are adjustable, supposedly. The easiest way to check is to remove the dashpots (carefully), empty the oil out, and pee
