I have the day off today and finally I am trying to get this '53 TD started. I have good oil pressure when turning the engine over without the ignition on (after priming the oil pump). I have tried t

Hi Bill, I don't know that Colourtune is the tool for static setting of ignition. It might work, but the alternative is simple and it we know it does work. Just make up a test lamp with a 12v bulb an

Hi Bill, What Bob said, unless you've switched to a Petronix in which case you make sure the rotor is pointed at the #1 plug and then turn the dizzy until the light goes out. Also make sure you turn

Hi Bill, Several things to consider. First priority is spark and ignition timing. Once you get that right, then check fuel. To run tests by turning the engine, take all the plugs out. Its easier to b

You need to back up a step or two. First off, you need to remember that the timing pointer will be at TDC twice during the full engine cycle. You need to be certain that you are timing on #1, not #4

Thanks to everyone: Bud, Richard, Peter, Ed, Walt, Lew, and Jonathan. I agree with all of you. It does seem like my timing is way off. I will check what all of you have suggested ASAP. Unfortunately,

I agree with Pete, regarding having the distributor lined up 1800 out, but not his method of ensuring that the rotor is pointing at the #1 plug wire at the correct time. #1 piston will be at TDC twic
