Plain and simple, lower compression will be more resistant to detonation. Detonation is possibly the biggest enemy of any engine (turbo or otherwise), and it can kill the motor in short order if not

If I'm not mistaken, another difference between the low CR high boost and higher CR lower boost is how the engine feels off of boost. The lower CR high boost engine may feel sluggish and take longer
