I have a '73 Spitfire 1500 and went through this a few months ago. The carbon canister on my car is mounted just to the right of the engine on the passenger side. Mine is a single Stromberg carb. I

The roadster factory spare parts catalogue shows: One top side canister connection to fuel tank vent. Other top connection to carb bowl vent. (rear outside of carb). Center connection to valve cover/

Ken, You can eliminate the carbon canister, but you will have to run the vent line to somewhere that it won't vent fumes inside the car. And by all means do not plug it up. The car will soon stall wh

Thanks, Joe, that sounds reasonable. Think what might happen is just run all the lines as normal and just eliminate the line from the canister to the now, non-existent Stromberg carb port. The tank w

I just left mine connected to the canister, but I "gutted" it first. Also hooked my breather line to the top with 1/2" heater hose. Sort of looks like it belongs there. By the crud inside my gas vent

In my case when I developed a leak in my Mk1 Tank, I installed one from a '74 1500. I had to do a few changes including dealing with the vent tube. I had no carbon canister so I routed a line to the

OK, so the gas tank has to be vented, and normally the fumes are sent to the canister. When the engine is running, the canister is purged via the carb port. I'm gonna leave the lines and canister in
