- Does this happen on every stop, or just when you have been driving and not using the brakes for a few minutes? A warped rotor can cause one of the pads to be pushed back a bit farther than the other

- The pistons will slide "smoothly" but not necessarily, "easily". You don't want them flopping around in the bores. NOTE: be careful if trying to relieve a "stuck" piston. There is a central pin smack

- They should require a bit of force to remove. There is a pin in the center of the cylinder. It slides into the center of the piston where it mates with spring loaded fingers that grip rather tightly.
