If the PVC is fully enclosed in a wall or ceiling, and any pipe that comes out into the open was metal, I'd consider it protected, but in a shop where the pipes are exposed, and can get hit or stress

It's plausible. The HD dish requires an extra coax be run from the roof to the set top box or switch. IT is much easier to run all the wires at once, rather than having to go back and run it later.
