- I have already tried to rotate the mirror 180 degrees but it didn't make much difference. I also have a later style mirror and that has the same problem. It's as if the very end of the stem dips too

- Gary, I noticed an original (early) mirror in the parts bin today and took a look at it. The stem just before the ball is parallel to the base, which would put it horizontal when installed on the car

- I think that you may have hit upon the problem that I am having. You mention that the last bend, on the stem before the mirror, was parallel to the base. Well, mine is different. The last bend drops
