- "848" refers to the last 3 digits of the casting number. It should be on the drivers side of the head. It's not really a "high performance" head but had slightly less chamber volume, giving about 1/2

- Original engine should be a 228 inline 6. Confirm by reading the engine number stamped on the distributor mounting pad on the block. First 3 numbers should be the engine size. All Jimmy sixes 228/23

- They should be the same but Chev truck/car bellhousings will fit all GMCs, so someone may have swapped bellhousings at some point. Best bet is to remove one motor mount and try to match from supplier
