Jim, before you go back with the tranny, best check the length and diameter of the input shaft, the spigot bush at the end of crank, and the splines. Bottoming could be source of your problem. John

Jim, The quick and dirty solution, if there is enought meat on the end of the crank to do so, is to countersink the pilot bushing to allow space for the input shaft, or chamfer the end of the crank.

Be careful about this "deal". Its expensive to fit the 300 crank, as it is longer than the 215/3.5 crank. olds engine also has different head stud number and pattern, so the buick heads may not fit.

Jim, assuming that your Rover is making about 10 to 1 compression and your mixture is on, I would try about 34 degrees total. You may get away with more, up 40, I have, but start lower and work up. J
