Don, Tom Sahines also runs an Alfa Giulietta Spider.  He has tail pipes
made up to allow him to point the exhaust to either side so it's AWAY
from the sound mike.  ;=) Failing that, you can get a directional shroud
for a Supertrapp that points the exhaust in whatever direction you
choose.  The VARA flyer also pointed out that you can short shift in the
area of the sound check.  Some sound deadening mats under the hood might
help too.  Giuliettas make a lot of noise from the intake area.
