Bob, Bill, FWIW, the two windshields I pulled did not have any rust (and
here in St. Louis that is remarkable) but I did have problems each time due to
the fact that the windshields were installed whilst the paint was still
soft. I had to take the clamp loose and rotate it back and forth to break the
paint bond. Unfortunately, this involved removing the fresh air duct at the
offending side to gain access.
One was a TR4 and the other was a TR6. I reassembled both using grease (or
antisieze) so the next guy won't have the problem.
