Curt,
It might be either assembly if it truly has a TR4A transmission. The
transmission would interchange easily. 4A would be a diaphragm style and a
TR3 or 4 would be a coil spring style pressure plate. The flywheel would
determine which assembly that your have since a 4A clutch assembly won't
bolt to a 3 or 4 flywheel and like wise a 3 or 4 clutch assembly won't bolt
to a 4A flywheel. Each can be made to work if re-drilled / pinned to match.
>From your description of the starter my guess is that you retain the TR 3
flywheel and thus have a TR3 style clutch assembly.
So when you separate the engine and transmission look at the Pressure Plate
and if it has coil springs buy a TR3 clutch assembly. If it has a diaphragm
style spring then get a TR4A clutch assembly.
