What potential damage/harm would there be in replacing worn Lucas 25D4
(40795) distributor with a Lucas 25D4 (41271) distributor on a
temporary basis? I know the advance curves are different, but other
than not running at optimum time, do I run the risk damaging anything
in doing this?
Here is a comparison of the advance curves:
40795
--------
RPM ADVANCE
350 1
600 6
1200 10
41271
--------
RPM ADVANCE
300 2
1200 9.5
2150 15
Am I correct that with the 41271 distributor that the timing would be
over advanced (from factory spec anyway) at higher RPMs by 5 degrees?
Is that enough to cause significant problems?
Thanks in advance (no pun intended <grin>)!
