Actually, I believe that the American convention is more logical. If you can imagine a knife switch, mounted vertically, as they would have been on an old switch board, gravity would help the switch fail safe. I have no idea if this is the real reason for the convention, but it makes sense to me. Mike We yanks seem to do everything backwards, don't we? Dave |
