Great advice ! I have personally encountered a fill
plug that would NOT come out, found AFTER I had
drained the transmission. The plug had been rounded
over by use of crescent wrenches. No amount of heat or
PB Blaster would loosen it up. I finally had to weld
a nut to the thing to get a good grip. Luckily this
was on a transmission that was not yet installed.
I bought a square-holed wrench after that for my other
LBC's !!

Just one simple, and possibly obvious, suggestion:
remove the fill
plug before removing the drain plug. It can be
embarrassing to
remove the drain plug and then encounter
difficulties removing the
fill plug.
