Mine does the same thing. Or similar. It reads 1/4 high. In other words
Empty reads 1/4, half tank reads 3/4 and when I fill it, it goes off scale and
stays there for about 50 miles. It takes a little getting used to.
I don't know what it is but maybe a little float rod bending will fix it.
