RE: TR6 fuel gauge reading high

The only place it might be a dirty ground is at the voltage stabilizer.
Otherwise it takes more current to read high, not less.  I'd say a failed
stabilizer is the next most likely culprit, except that would make your temp
gauge read high, too.
