You might be referring to the gasket that seals the fuel pump housing to the
engine block - right? I understand TeriAnn's description and see benefit of
rubber seal on the diaphram push rod. The seal is no larger than a nickel and
fits inside a metal shell that's pressed in housing just below diaphram and is
crimped or tagged into place. Apparently these rubber seals have not been part
of rebuild kits for years. TRF states it now is the only vendor providing
these seals. Looking at these two disassembled pumps it appears the seal is
very
important.
