When Charlie Brown pulled up to the line in his Spitfire 1500 . . . he knocked
the time to beat down another entire second on his first attempt. Sadly, his
second attempt ended with a blown head gasket, and so well never know if he
could have bettered his own time. The only consolation for Charlie was that he
was able to repair it while at the convention and drive to the show on Saturday
and back home on Sunday.

I watched some other contenders make some good runs. I also saw some
entertaining ones too. Matt Schipannis Triumph 2000 sedan desperately needed
a sway bar.
Either that or two or three passengers to lean into the corners like motorcycle
side car riders.

John Lye proved that his course wasnt too tight for a clean run in a Stag
using Henry Fryes car at the beginning of the day. Whether the Matt Bakes
Renown or Marty Jones 1800 could run the course without having to make a three
point turn was debateable.

They did so . . successfully, and actually fairly quickly.
They were NOT the only ones who needed to use the reverse gear to stay on
course:
Witness Marty Sukeys 20 second slower second run.

I personally didnt see Martys runs.
I was going back to the hotel to get my Flaming Hot TR4 to conquer the M2
Class.
Despite my best efforts, I only managed a 3rd in class. Gary Hunter managed
to beat me by only 4 hundredths of second, and George Haynes beat us both by
just over 4 tenths of second.

At least I wasnt beaten by any of the Stock cars. (although Colin was only 3
hundredths of a second behind me in his GT6 and Jack McGahey was another tenth
behind him in his Limey TR8)

Ive collected literally HUNDREDS of pictures from the Autocross, as well as
the rest of the convention. Ill try to get some posted soon.
Id love to have some more good ones if anyone wants to send them to me.
I would like to limit the submissions to the good ones though. I think I have
1700 digital photos to comb through so far.

Good night folks.

Type to you again later.
