Randall,

When I got home this evening I pulled out my copy of "Original Triumph" by
Bill Piggott. According to it, the electrically operated TR4 temperature
gauges were marked either 0/185/250F or 30/70/100C. It also states that
some or all of the first few hundred TR4s had capillary temperature gauges,
and that those would have been marked 0/185/230F. According to Bill
Piggott, the TR4As had the C/H gauge.

I'm still confused as to why the metric gauge is marked the way it is. As
you stated, it would be quite possible for the coolant (under pressure)
temperature to rise above 100C. I had just never seen any discussion about
the apparent scaling differences and was curious as to weather anyone had an
explanation.
