At the risk of angering the Pertronix gods, the Ignitor installed by my
PO has been troublefree for 4+ years and 33,000 miles of daily driving.
I haven't had to adjust or lube it every 6000 miles or whatever as I
would have with points. I'm planning to install an Ignitor in my "new"
'66 Volvo wagon. My friends with new cars go through electronic parts
(throttle position sensors, emissions sensors, ECUs) like they're
Kleenex. Not to say that we don't have problems with parts reliability
-- a la the legendary bad batch of rotors -- but maybe a handful of
reported failures isn't surprising.
And the last time I claimed terrific reliability for my Triumph I went
out to lunch and crashed into a Ford Explorer. Maybe I'll take the other
car for errands this evening. :)
