I disagree Joe, it's not at all uncommon for a brand new pump to weep a few
drops (or more) before the seal seats. It's also not uncommon to get a few
drops through the seal during operation, they aren't perfect. The total
amount is small, so most people never notice the loss ... but even modern
water pumps (including non-automotive ones) have weep holes. Costs money to
put that hole there, so you know GM, Ford, etc. think it's necessary ...
