Mitch - just did this operation. I got over 50lbs. although I don't know
what the drill RPM was. By the way the 6" extension from a 3/8 socket set
works great because it perfectly fills the hole, therefore no oil splash. I
just used a Dremel grinding disc to cut a notch in it. Maybe trying this
which will allow you to get the revs up and maybe better pressure.
By the way I think even the 19 lbs. will allow you to start the car safely
now.

Subject: oil pump priming
Just finishing up on a rebuild & went to prime the oil pump
& motor by
turning the oil pump shaft with a drill. I made a simple
shaft to fit
over the oil pump tip at the bottom of the distributor hole.
The drill
is turning at about 800rpm, any faster and oil spills out of
the hole. I
can only get about 19lbs on the gauge. The drill turns in a
counter
clockwise direction. Does this sound like the pressure
should be higher.
